The Story
The 1985 vintage was characterized by severe winter frosts, resulting in a low yield but concentrated, powerful, and rich grapes. This cuvée is part of the "Collection Crayères" program, in which the house releases matured bottles from its cellars. The 1985, disgorged around 1993, is celebrated for its incredible longevity and ability to remain fresh despite its maturity.
Decanter 94
A Champagne very typical of this small, concentrated vintage, the volume depleted by spring frost. Now at full maturity, it has a finely evolved, honeyed nose with a nutty note of pistachio. Buttered toast and a hint of lemon in the mouth head towards an end flavour akin to oloroso sherry and Asian spices. Ideal with foie gras and even roast grouse. Nearing its peak. Disgorged in 1994.
